Dear parent or guardian,
Welcome to eighth grade Physical Science. It will be a positive and fun year. By the end of the year we will have covered properties of matter including measurement, chemistry, and classification of matter. We will also cover the following units: heat and energy, forces and motion, and waves, light, and sound. There will also be at least two projects to be assigned as the year progresses. There will be adequate time given to complete the tasks.
Expectations are on the back of this letter. We read through them as a class, and we encourage you to read through them as well. We also hope your student brings a positive attitude to class, a positive attitude allows everyone to excel. We will also follow the East Middle PBIS expectations. They include: To Excel in treating others the way you want to be treated, to Make a positive difference, and to Stand up for others and putting others first.
Feel free to contact us at school. We can be reached at 274-4030 (extension 316), or via email at [email protected], or [email protected]. We check email at least three times a day so we can usually get back to you quickly. We will usually in the classroom during planning time. If your student needs anything we will help them in any reasonable capacity.
The course is assessable through Canvas and most information will be on the course page through the “Modules” link. If students are missing work they will be assigned “Thursday Night Club” after school intervention time to assist them in getting their late or missing assignments completed.
